The shovels, buckets, mulch and trees will be provided, you bring the enthusiasm and maybe your favourite shovel from home. Also at this planting, native woody flowering shrubs will be provided to replace invasive European buckthorn removed from residential gardens. Residents should bring the buckthorn root to be traded for a native tree or shrub, thanks to the Buckthorn Bounty Program that is offered to Guelph residents by Trees for Guelph. This program promotes a healthy, attractive and ecologically diverse urban landscape. This is a great way for high school students to accumulate volunteer hours.
