Wild Wee Ones is a nature-based program for children (ages 2.5-5) and their parent or guardian, to connect together with the outdoors. This program takes place entirely outside, exploring the fields and forests of Shade's Mills Park.
We provide a nurturing learning environment for you and your young explorers. Our program leaders will guide you both in nature-based play and discovery. In the powerful growing stages of early childhood, the sense of exploration is uninhibited and play is the core method for learning. Explorers are challenged to go beyond the familiar. Through questioning the unfamiliar, explorers will learn to focus their attention, to ask why, to collaborate with peers, and develop inquisitive confidence.
Our classroom is the earth, the trees, the rivers and the fields. We lead by the explorer’s natural curiosity and expand on their interest. We meet outside and stay outside, rain or shine, hot or cold, becoming aware of what we need to wear for our experiences. Days are filled with art, song, dance, reading, storytelling, and much more.
This 6 week program is offered every Wednesday, 9:30-11:30 a.m., starting November 15 and ending on December 20. A single registration fee of $70 covers a parent with one or two children between the ages of 2.5 to 5 years. Grand River Parks' members pay only $50 for the 6 week program.
