Wild Wee Ones is a nature-based program for children ages 2.5 - 5 and their parent or guardian. This program takes place entirely outdoors, exploring the fields and forests of Shades' Mills Park.
We provide a nurturing and learning environment for you and your young explorers. Our program leaders will guide you both in nature-based play and discovery. In the powerful growing stages of early childhood, the sense of exploration is uninhibited and playing is the core method for learning.
Our classroom is the earth, the trees, the rivers and the fields. We lead by the explorer’s natural curiosity and expand on their interests. We meet outside and stay outside, rain or shine, hot or cold, becoming aware of what we need to wear for our experiences.
Through playing games and discovering together, explorers are challenged to go beyond the familiar. That through questioning the unfamiliar, explorers will learn to focus their attention, to ask why, to collaborate with peers, developing inquisitive confidence. Days are filled with art, song, dance, reading, storytelling, and much more. The important things the explorers will learn will show up naturally.
This 8 week program is offered every Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., starting January 17, 2018 and ending on March 7. A single registration fee of $100 covers a parent with one or two children between the ages of 2.5 to 5 years. Grand River Park Members only pay $75 for the 8 week program. The non-member price includes park entrance fees on program days.
